RHODE ISLAND HOUSE ORIENTATION

House plans orientation for new members Thursday

STATE HOUSE — The 14 newly elected members of the Rhode Island House of Representatives — an incoming class that includes 12 Democrats and two Republicans — have been invited to participate in a virtual orientation session on Thursday, Dec. 10, from 4:30 p.m. to approximately 6:30 p.m.

 

The orientation be held via WebEx.

 

It will include welcome addresses from House Majority Leader and Speaker-nominee K. Joseph Shekarchi, House Majority Leader-elect Christopher R. Blazejewski and House Minority Leader Blake Filippi.

 

The legislative leaders’ addresses will be televised live by Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox Channels 15 and 61, in high definition on Cox Channel 1013, on Full Channel on Channel 15 and on Channel 34 by Verizon subscribers. It will be live streamed at

The orientation program will also include brief introductions to various legislative offices and a budget process presentation by the House fiscal advisor. The training will focus on the legislative process, legislative staff duties and communications.
