DON GREBIEN
Pawtucket – Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien and members of the Pawtucket City Council and Pawtucket Redevelopment Agency (PRA) joined developer Lee Peyser and Architect and Planner, Rebecca Barnes for Peyser Real Estate Group, representatives of Gilbane, Inc., and representatives of Fuss & O’Neal in a tour of the planned Dexter Street Commons site.
“We are pleased to continue seeing the progress on Dexter Street Commons, and welcome the Peyser Real Estate Group to develop this important gateway to the future commuter rail station area, referred to as the Conant Thread District,” said Mayor Grebien. “This project is a testament of the boundless possibilities for developers interested in Pawtucket. It continues to move expeditiously thanks to the great collaboration with Lee, Commerce RI, the City Council, and the PRA.”
“We would like to thank the Mayor, City Council, Administration, PRA and Commerce RI for working together with our team, during these challenging times, to make Dexter Street Commons a reality. We plan to break ground before the end of this year, getting cranes in the air during the first quarter of 2021. The City of Pawtucket, and especially the Conant Thread District, has already begun to see the signs of hope and progress, with a pipeline of new development projects and investments ramping up. We are confident that Dexter Street Commons and the new commuter rail and bus hub is the genesis of something very special for the entire community.”
The project is set to cost about $43.5 million and include 150 residential units, 20,300 square feet of retail space, and 170 parking spaces. The approximately 1.4-acre site consists of the former Tarpy’s Meats and Cala Fruit property and the abutting City-owned parking lot was has been acquired by and entity controlled by Peyser Real Estate Group.
A geotechnical investigation is currently underway on the site. The Peyser Real Estate Group anticipates breaking ground by the end of the year.
