Our State’s economy is broken, lacking the tools to meet the most fundamental human needs of food, housing and health care for those unable to work.
Workers, not CEOs, are risking their lives working on the frontlines during this pandemic. The COVID-19 crisis has cast a new light on the value of the labor furnished by workers who previously have gone unseen and undervalued by corporations and society.
We will gather on Labor Day to rally together and lay out worker demands for a just recovery.
It is time to create a new social contract in Massachusetts, founded first and foremost on the protection of human life — one built on mutual aid and caring for one another — where giving and sharing is valued above taking and exploiting.
It is time to emerge from these crises together and forge a different kind of normal — a new normal that is no longer driven solely by market forces, fueled by money and greed. But instead is centered on public policies that prioritize the health and safety of all workers, and the well-being of all our communities.
Sponsored by the Greater Boston Labor Council, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO and Boston’s Labor Movement.
Similar events will be happening in New Bedford and Springfield. Contact the Southeastern Massachusetts Labor Council and the Western Massachusetts Area Labor Federation for more information on those events.
