Commission opportunity for RI musicians, performers and sound artists
As part of our mission, FirstWorks is committed to celebrating and supporting the local arts community and finding new opportunities for local performing artists during the COVID-19 crisis.
The commission is open to Rhode Island-based musicians, performers and artists who use sound in their work (including bands and solo musicians, sound artists/technologists, DJs, spoken word performers, theater artists, storytellers, poets, etc.) and are interested in interactive, online and/or public performance.
We invite applicants to respond to FirstWorks’ ongoing Raise Your Voice project, an initiative to amplify diverse voices and celebrate difference through the performing arts.
We encourage artists to explore this theme in the creation, presentation, or as the subject of the work.
FirstWorks will award up to five artists grants from $1,000 up to a maximum of $3,000 for the creation and presentation of new work, either virtually and/or live (in 2021) in Rhode Island.
