GSSNE Announces Countdown to 100 Years of Camp Hoffman Celebrations
Warwick, R.I. — Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England is thrilled to announce the official countdown to the 100 year anniversary of Camp Hoffman—one of the oldest continuously operating camps in our country. There will be multiple events throughout the year celebrating the centennial, including an official campfire kickoff celebration on October 1st which will include singing, fun activities, and s’mores with fellow Girl Scouts.
For more than a century, camping has been a cornerstone of the Girl Scout experience. The organization remains committed to ensuring that girls have opportunities to take part in everything camp has to offer in a safe and nurturing space. This special place has brought girls together to learn new skills, to make new friends, to sing, and to cherish this community bound by the values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law over ten decades.
“We are so excited about the centennial celebration of this very special outdoor space for Girl Scouts! It’s pretty incredible to imagine 100 years of girls exploring their independence, seeking challenges and finding the courage to take risks that expand their confidence. Hoffman is also where girls learn the importance of protecting our environment because they have experienced the beauty, joy and renewal of time outdoors. We are proud that we have been able to offer engaging, exciting, and priceless experiences here at Camp Hoffman, one of the oldest continually operating camps in the country today,” said President, CEO, Pam Hyland.
“In this centennial year we’d also like to recognize Hoffman’s greatest benefactor – The Champlin Foundation. Their support of many capital projects has expanded our potential and our relevance in the lives of today’s girls. Their most recent gift of a pavilion will provide needed activity space and a shelter for groups during inclement weather. We cannot begin to express our gratitude for their partnership!”
