“WE ARE ONE RHODE ISLAND”

Hello friend,

This pandemic has impacted every community in Rhode Island and across the world. Unfortunately, the communities hit hardest have been those who can least afford it, and that includes our undocumented neighbors. Many of these Rhode Islanders have been working as essential workers throughout the crisis but are ineligible for federal public assistance due to their immigration status. It’s not right, and we are doing something about it.

Last month, I announced the weR1 Rhode Island Fund, which will provide thousands of families in need with $400 no-fee debit cards.

This morning, July 10, 2020, at 9 a.m., I’ll be hosting a virtual press conference on my Facebook page to discuss the progress we have made in just a few short weeks.

I hope that you’ll join us to learn about how well the program is going so far.

If you are in a position to make a donation of any size, please text weR1 to 27126 or use this link .

It only takes a few minutes to help support a Rhode Island family.

If you’re someone who has already donated to this important cause:  Thank you.

Your support truly demonstrates that we are crushing COVID by helping our neighbors in need. I feel so proud to be a Rhode Islander and you should too.

COVID has impacted Rhode Islanders in countless ways- families have watched their loved ones fight to recover from the disease; thousands have lost jobs; students have missed their teachers and friends. But COVID has also brought out the best in many of us, and the way we have come together to contribute to weR1 is a perfect example.

I hope you’ll consider donating by texting weR1 to 27126 or using this link .
