CITYARTS WELCOMES TAYLOR JACKSON

Dear CityArts friends and family,

TAYLOR JACKSON

We hope you are all safe and healthy during this time apart. Right now, our organization, like so many locally-based nonprofits, is working hard to serve our community in a constantly evolving landscape of needs and resources. That is why we are very pleased to announce the appointment of Taylor Jackson as our new Executive Director.

Taylor was born and raised in Conway, Arkansas. She received a B.A. in History from Rhodes College (Memphis, TN), and a M.A. in Public Humanities from Brown University.

From an early age, Taylor has been a passionate advocate for equitable access to arts education as a way to encourage youth voices collectively and individually.

Before joining CityArts, Taylor served as Program Director at Southside Cultural Center of Rhode Island (SSCRI).

There, she developed and managed SCCRI programming and worked to build collaborative partnerships with local artists, businesses, and other organizations.

She has also worked as the Youth Engagement Associate at New Urban Arts, where she continued her pursuit of mentoring and connecting with youth communities.

In addition to youth development, her professional interests also include the exploration of black artistic cultures and ways that visual art, performance art, and similar creative expressions reflect and respond to the heritage and history of peoples within the African Diaspora.

Taylor enjoys sharing laughs with her friend, home-cooked meals, and binge-watching nature documentaries.

She lives in Pawtucket with her many plants.

Taylor is taking over from Jen Dalton Vincent, who served as Executive Director from October 2018 and stepped down in April of this year.

We feel very fortunate to have Taylor on board and are looking forward to continuing our mission of youth empowerment with her leadership.

Welcome, Taylor!

With warm regards,
CityArts staff, board, and teaching artists
