Two Local Small Businesses Collaborate on a Creative Way to Raise Money for Food Pantry
Julie Beebe, owner of the gift and jewelry boutique Yes! Gallery in Wickford Village, has had a long time love and appreciation for the North Kingstown Food Pantry.
Knowing that her childhood friend and fellow local small business owner, Jake Fahrenholz of Fresh Mode Screen Printing, shared this admiration of the local non-profit organization, she called him up and proposed a collaboration to help raise money for them during this time of crisis.
With kids being out of school for such an extended period of time and their increased number of guests due to people’s new economic hardships, the Food Pantry’s shelves are getting depleted at an alarming rate.
Though actual food donations are greatly appreciated, the Food Pantry has ten times the buying power for every dollar donated to them.
With both of their businesses being severely impacted by the limits (due to COVID19 restrictions) to operate as they usually do, Julie and Jake have thought outside of the box to combine their creative abilities and love of all things local to produce “Local Love” tee shirts and sweatshirts.
They enlisted local designer, Rob Dube to come up with the iconic graphics. Not only will the sales of these garments help the two businesses stay afloat, but a considerable part of the proceeds will be donated to the NK Food Pantry.
They also plan to make future editions of Local Love products when the current crisis is over in order to continue the ever present needs of local charities.
Pre-orders for the limited edition garments can be made online through the end of April.
