GIRL SCOUTS: YES – COOKIES ON LINE

Girl Scouts Invite Community Members to Order and Donate Cookies to Local Unsung Heroes Online

Warwick, R.I.—Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England has been forced to suspend all Girl Scout activities including meetings, events, programs, and cookie booths through April 30th, but that’s not stopping them. While cookie booths and selling door-to-door may be on hold, you can still support your local Girl Scouts. For the first time, everyone can order cookies that can be shipped directly to your house or friends & family who need a special treat during this stressful time. Cookies can be purchased online by visiting gssne.org/findcookies.

Customers are also encouraged to take advantage of the Girl Scout Cookie Share program while they shop for cookies. Cookie Share is GSSNE’s way of continuing its mission of making the world a better place by donating cookies to local first responders, hospital staff, nursing homes, pharmacies, local food pantries, and all those who are keeping the world running while being at risk themselves every day. GSSNE offers customers the opportunity to participate in Cookie Share every year, and GSSNE donates cookies at the end of every cookie season, but given the special circumstances, we will be making regular donations throughout the remainder of the Cookie Season. As always, all proceeds of cookies purchased will support troops at GSSNE. “An important part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is being able to give back to the community through our Gift of Caring and Cookie Share programs. The Girl Scout Cookie Program not only allows girls to learn important leadership skills, but also the impact of supporting those in need.  We have all been impacted by the current Coronavirus pandemic and want to let our first responders know how much we appreciate all that they are doing for us during these unsettling times. We hope that these sweet treats will bring smiles to many faces throughout our community!” says GSSNE Senior Director of Advancement, Ginger Lallo.

To make a donation to support Cookie Share, please use the following link. GSSNE will be making donations through May 1st until further notice. Giving back to the community is a big part of what Girl Scouts learn and we feel that it is even more important at this time as so many people have been affected by the Coronavirus.

Because Girl Scouts are currently restricted from meeting traditionally, GSSNE is also supporting the community by providing robust online learning opportunities not only for our members but for any child who would like to utilize these resources. Some of the programs include; the Girl Scout Guide to Helping Others during the Covid-19 Pandemic, and the Shall Not Be Denied patch which celebrates the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote and more. About the Girl Scout Cookie Program:

Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls empower themselves as they earn their own money to put toward a range of experiences, some of which are illustrated on this year’s refreshed cookie packaging—from adventure-packed camping and canoeing, to exploring space science and designing robots, to taking meaningful action to improve girls’ communities. Every purchase of Girl Scout Cookies makes experiences like these possible for girls in your local community, giving them hands-on opportunities to hone valuable skills like decision making and business ethics. In fact, nine in ten Girl Scouts say the Cookie Program has built their interest in entrepreneurship and given them the skills to succeed.
