PAWTUCKET ON-LINE WITH E-RECORDING
After working with State officials to get legislation passed that would authorize cities and towns in Rhode Island to accept e-recording of land evidence records, the Pawtucket City Clerk’s office is now set-up to accept e-recorded documents.
“Since the passage of the legislation, e-recording has been one of several technological and streamlining projects the City has been working on to help make Pawtucket more business friendly,” noted Pawtucket city clerk Richard Goldstein.
“But with the COVID-19 crisis creating a need for people to be able to do their business without coming into city hall, implementing e-recording became a top priority for our office.”
Beginning on Tuesday, March 24th, the Pawtucket city clerk’s office began accepting e-recorded documents. In normal times, e-recording will save both time and tires, because instead of having to travel from one clerk’s office to the next to record instruments in different municipalities or send the recordings through the regular mail, which takes a few days, documents can be recorded almost instantly by e-recording on-line.
But more importantly, during this COVID-19 crisis, e-recording will allow recording safely from home or office without the need to travel.
To utilize e-recording in Pawtucket, a document filer must sign-up with one or both of the e-recording companies, Corporation Service Company (CSC) (www.erecording.com) or Simplifile (simplifile.com) through which the city is currently accepting e-recordings.
