PAWTUCKET EXECUTIVE ORDER LIMITING PUBLIC HOURS

Amid Coronavirus Pandemic, City Operating on Limited Hours to Public

Mayor Grebien Signs Executive Order until Further Notice

Pawtucket – The City of Pawtucket has announced that, in an effort to minimize the risk of spreading the Coronavirus (COVID-19), City Hall will be open to the public by appointments only from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday through Friday starting on Monday, March 30th. Mayor Donald R. Grebien also signed an Executive Order today to be implemented until further notice in response to the pandemic.

“As the City of Pawtucket and State continue to work through the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognize that there is a need to keep City Hall operational for residents and businesses to go about daily activities while keeping the community and our hardworking employees safe,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “We continue to encourage our residents to safely and securely use the online and mail services that are available on the Pawtucket website.”

The Executive Order includes the following additions to the first executive orders.

All close-contact businesses (businesses which cannot maintain social distancing with their customers) including, but not limited to, gymnasiums, fitness centers and similar exercise facilities, hair salons and barbershops, nail salons, spas and tattoo parlors shall cease in-person operations.

 The City of Pawtucket acknowledges that restaurants offering takeout/delivery and hotels be classified as essential businesses.

 The City of Pawtucket acknowledges that media outlets – including newspapers, magazines, radio, and television – are essential businesses, especially during these challenging times in which the community needs to receive critical information.

“The City thanks all of the businesses including restaurants offering takeout and delivery. The City cannot imagine the stress and burden being put on you as this pandemic continued,” said Mayor Grebien. “It is also important that we acknowledge the media outlets at this time who are always charged with providing our community with up-to-date and accurate information. We thank them for their service during this time.”

Appointments will go live on Monday morning. To set up an appointment, please visit the City of Pawtucket at www.pawtucketri.com. An appointment will not be needed to visit City Collector’s Office. All essential services will continue to be provided with essential employees to remain in the building from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The City asks that residents continue to do their part to minimize all risks by taking the proper precautions, including:

Practicing social distancing,

Staying away from crowds of more than 10 people,

Washing your hands constantly with soap and water, and

Staying home if you are sick until you are fully healthy.
