State Arts Council Announces 2020 RISCA Fellowship Exhibition to Open at South County Art Association
The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts will present the 16th Annual RISCA Fellowship Exhibition, showcasing work by 27 artists who received Fellowship Awards from the State Arts Council over the past year. The Fellowship Exhibition will run from March 20 through April 19 at the South County Art Association at 2587 Kingstown Road in Kingston, RI.
The RISCA Fellowship Exhibition is an annual event that showcases works by Rhode Island artists who have been awarded by the State Arts Council for artistic excellence. Fellowship winners receive a $5000 award and Merit Award winners receive a $1000 award. Each of these artists’ artwork will be included in the annual RISCA Fellowship Exhibition.
The 2020 Fellowship Exhibition includes the following events, all free and open to the public:
- Artists Reception – Friday, March 20th, 7-9pm
- Writers Night – Wednesday, April 8th, 6-9pm
- Closing Reception and Artists Talk – Sunday, April 19th, 1-4pm.
The opening reception on March 20th will feature a performance by music composition fellow Sara Azriel. The Fellowship Writers Night on Wednesday, April 8th will include readings by Darcie Dennigan, Matthew C. Kramer, Carrie Oeding, Laura Brown-Lavoie, and Lawrence Goodman. The closing reception on Sunday, April 19th will feature a performance of choreography by fellow Gisela Creus.
“RISCA’s annual fellowship exhibition showcases the amazing artwork being made in Rhode Island. Since it features 14 disciplines and artists from all over the state working in a variety of media and subject matter, there is something for everyone,” says Mollie Flanagan, Individual Artists Program Director for the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. “This really is a celebration of the high caliber artists that call Rhode Island home, who are creating challenging, interesting work that is moving art forms forward.”
