Pawtucket Saint Patrick’s Day Parade to Take Place
City Taking Extra Precaution During Event
Pawtucket – Working together with the City of Pawtucket, the St. Patrick’s Day Committee has announced that the 38th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will continue as planned. City officials will be taking extra precaution during the event, working alongside the city’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Department of Public Works (DPW).
The Administration, the City Council, Pawtucket Department of Public Safety and the city’s Emergency Management Agency, the School Department, School Committee, and the City’s Health Liaison, Dr. Fine, have been working with the RIDOH to bring awareness to the residents on how to minimize any risk of illness of the disease and other flu-like viruses from spreading in the community.
The City will be providing extra sanitizing stations during the event and will have volunteers from EMA distributing awareness flyers.
Everyone has a role, and the City encourages all of the residents to take the necessary steps to prevent infection from coronavirus and other respiratory viruses. The City asks that everyone wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Please also try to get at least 8 hours of sleep, stay hydrated, try to avoid and reduce stress, eat lots of fresh food and vegetables, and exercise daily.
Please be aware that the hardworking Public Safety personnel are prepared and taking the necessary precautions at this time. The City continues to work with RIDOH on preventative awareness.
The parade, which will begin on South Bend Street near McCoy Stadium, is slated to begin at noon on Saturday, March 7th. An event at the Armory on Exchange Street is also slated to begin at noon with most patrons entering upon finishing the parade.
