Free Talk on the Art of Civil War Reenacting at Museum of Work & Culture
WOONSOCKET, R.I. – Valley Talks, a series of free historical lectures, continues on Sunday, Mar. 8, 1:30pm, at the Museum of Work & Culture when established historical reenactors Paul and Denise Bourget will present Commitment to Civil War Reenacting.
This talk will answer the question: What does it take to become a Civil War Living Historian and to continually step into America’s bloodiest time period? The Bourgets will discuss the passion for historical research, the rigorous accuracy of appearance and equipment, and the economic and social understanding of the time demanded in historical reenactment. They will share how they transform themselves into Brevet Major General George Sears Greene, a native Rhode Islander and forgotten hero of Gettysburg, and Mrs. Martha Greene, bringing the past to life.
Paul Bourget is the owner and president of Bourget & Associates. He was the editor, researcher, and co-writer of Towers of Faith and Family, a history of Woonsocket’s St. Ann’s parish, and was the founding president of St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center. He currently serves as the Immediate Past President of the Museum of Work & Culture’s Preservation Foundation and is Chairman of the Woonsocket School Committee.
Denise Bourget is a retired cardiac nurse and United Health case manager. She is an active Rotary Club Member and was a co-chair of the All Saints Christmas Bazaar. Denise has been an active Civil War Living Historian for nearly 10 years.
