Announcing the 2020 Pawtucket Foundation Prize Exhibition

The Pawtucket Arts Collaborative (PAC) and the Pawtucket Foundation announce the 13th year of this highly regarded, juried art exhibition – the Pawtucket Foundation Prize Exhibition. This year’s juror is Steven Pennell, Coordinator for Urban Arts and Culture at the URI Alan Shawn Feinstein Providence Campus and long-time artist, educator, actor, playwright, set/lighting designer–just to name a few. His full bio is below.
Entries will be accepted from midnight January 1st, 2020 through midnight February 22nd, 2020. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THAT DATE. The show opens on March 12th.

The Foundation Show is open to all artists in all media, both 2D and 3D.
Three prizes will be awarded at the opening. They are the $1000 Pawtucket Foundation Prize and two PAC Prizes of $250 and $100 each.
All submissions must be online. You can submit one or two entries. Entry fees are: PAC Members – $15 for one entry, $20 for two; Non-PAC Members – $18 for one entry, $23 for two. All fees must be paid via credit card – checks and PayPal are no longer accepted unless under special circumstances.
You will receive a confirmation with a link to upload your photos once your entry is complete. Photos must be in JPG format no larger than 5MB, preferably between 2MB – 3MB. One photo per entry please unless you are entering 3D work. If so please email Lin at membershippac@gmail.com to make arrangements for additional photographs.
ALL work must be for sale. We will not accept entries that are NOS (not for sale) or POR (price on request). PLEASE do not enter work that you intend to submit or use in another exhibition that starts before the Foundation Show’s end date in May.
Entrants are given the opportunity of having their work included in PAC’s Online Store. This enables potential buyers to purchase their work via credit card after the show’s opening.

ABOUT THE JUROR\
Steven Pennell has been an arts administrator, director, educator, actor and musician in the field of visual and performing arts for more than 40 years. He spent 10 years overseas running Music and Theater for the US Army. He has directed well over 90 plays and has won awards for set and lighting design.
Steven is the founder (1996) and Coordinator for Urban Arts and Culture at the URI Alan Shawn Feinstein Providence Campus, curating monthly exhibits and creating performance works in support of the Urban Program, raising social justice issues and celebrating diversity through the arts, working with students, professional artist from the community and across the globe. The monthly exhibits feature art in all media by student, community and professional artists. The program also includes music, theater, dance, and film events related to the exhibit topics. Many of these are original performances Pennell creates from oral history gathered in the community and transformed into performances which he has produced for over 25 years.
He also teaches Theater History, Creative Drama, Acting, and Personal Narrative Performance classes at the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College. He is also active in community arts and cultural organizations including the executive board of Gallery Night Providence. He has a long association with Brown University/Rites and Reason Theater where he worked as an archivist, director and production scholar on original performance works from oral history, community-based research. He has served on the board of First Works, TAPA, Beacon Charter School and multiple boards of the Mathewson Street United Methodist Church. Mr. Pennell has been the Senior Theater Focus Group Representative for the Association of Theater in Higher Education leading workshops, performances and scholarly presentations.
