Every U.S. state vies to create a prosperous environment for its residents, promoting financial growth and wellbeing while attempting to stave off systemic poverty. The Richest States Report highlights the states that have been most successful in this endeavor across a variety of metrics.
ChamberofCommerce.org created this report with data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the U.S. Census Bureau, and the Tax Policy Center, among others. Metrics analyzed include real per capita personal income, poverty levels, state and local general revenue, per capita spending by state, and more. Analysis results were then normalized and weighted to obtain rankings.
