CONCERT FOR YOUR VALENTINE

A Concert for Your Valentine at the Weaver Library

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In a fusion of jazz and folk, DocWood along with Joe Parillo and Ian Reyes will present an hour of songs about love at East Providence’s Weaver Library on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 7pm. From the classics to the little known, from the romantic to the humorous, this free concert presents the perfect songs to celebrate the Valentine season. DocWood will be providing the vocals and guitar rhythms, Parillo will be on piano, and Reyes on the bass. 

 
This URI based trio of professors has presented their Valentine concert for the past 5 years.
 

DocWood (Stephen Wood) is a professor of Communication and Film Studies at URI. He has been performing and recording folk music since 1964. Opening for Pete Seeger has been a highlight of his career. He is part of a trio called Farm Dog that performs traditional music and has played at the Weaver Library Farmers Market.

 
Parillo is director of the jazz program at the University of Rhode Island, and founder and owner of Neoga Records. He is a Grammy nominated composer and pianist, and Steinway Artist. He has performed in Brazil, Italy, Germany and New Zealand and has played nationally and internationally with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. 
 

Reyes is a professor Communication Studies and specializes in all matter of audio. He teaches socio-cultural approaches to media including audio recording, popular music, and video games. Reyes also plays for Farm Dog and with an alt band Tovarish.
