ATTLEBORO LITERACY CENTER

Dear Friends,

One of The Literacy Center’s English Language classes receive Certificates at TLC’s graduation ceremony in August.

With everything going on in the world today, it’s easy to become disheartened about the state of our society. Everywhere I turn it seems like people are divided.

Those who are supposed to be leading us are instead trying to pull us apart.

But when I walk into The Literacy Center, I know the world is still a beautiful place.

Here, I am greeted by a hundred smiling faces.

I am surrounded by gratitude, community, and determination.

Over the past year, I have had the unique honor of working with more than 600 incredible adult learners from all over the world, from Attleboro to Azerbaijan; 140 volunteers; and 15 incredible coworkers. Being in this building every day, I get to witness the very best version of our world.

The Literacy Center community gives me hope.

Last week, as I was leaving the building, one of our English-language students took my arm, smiled at me, and said, “Thank you for this place. It made my life everything.”

On December 31st, I will raise a glass in thanks to all of you who make this world a wonderful place to live in. In the words of that lovely student:

Thank you. You make my life everything.

With the deepest gratitude,

Amanda Blount
