DEM SEEKS INPUT ON PROPOSED CLIMATE RESILIENCE FUND REGULATION
PROVIDENCE – The Department of Environmental Management (DEM) will hold a public hearing next week to discuss two proposed sets of regulations on climate resiliency funding. The draft regulations create two funds related to climate resilience to receive, hold, and administer the $10 million portion of the 2018 RI Green Economy and Clean Water Bond for climate resilience projects.
The first set of proposed regulations is for $5M in bond funding specifically for wastewater treatment facility resilience projects. The second set of proposed regulations is for the $5M in bond funding for other resilience projects such as the removal/relocation/redesign of infrastructure or nature-based solutions.

The hearing provides an opportunity for public comment as part of the rulemaking process. DEM will accept written comments on the proposed regulations through Wednesday, October 23, 2019.
