Planning for Preservation:
Preservation Under Pressure
Wednesday, October 16
6:00 – 8:00 pm
Robert J. Higgins Welcome Center
45 Upper College Road, URI/Kingston
RIHPHC Deputy Director Jeffrey Emidy, landscape architect Tanya Kelley, and architect Clifford M. Renshaw will discuss threats to cultural resources and approaches to protecting Rhode Island’s historic places.
How is the State assessing the potential impacts of sea level rise? What strategies are available for protecting cultural landscapes and scenic byways?
How can property owners balance energy efficiency and historic preservation?
Then, it’s your turn to provide feedback and share your thoughts on how the state historic preservation plan should address current and future issues in preservation.
Preservation Under Pressure is the third in a series of public meetings that will inform an update to Rhode Island’s state historic preservation plan.
Event sponsored by the URI Department of History.
Free parking is available in the lot behind the building at 75 Briar Lane. A visitor permit is required. Please register your car online in advance or at the front desk of the Higgins Welcome Center on the day of the meeting.
