PAWTUCKET OPEN TENNIS TOURNAMENT WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The 47th Pawtucket Open Tennis Tournament at the Kenney Tennis Courts located in Slater Memorial Park came to a close this past weekend following some great competition. Matches began Friday, September 20 and concluded Sunday, September 22.
In the Womens Doubles Division, the team of Emily Field and Emily Demers of Seekonk, defeated Suzy DaRosa and Katie Ramm of North Attleboro, 6-2, 6-4.
The Men’s 4.0/4/5 Singles winner was Nate Rebello, with David Moran taking the runner up position. Moran had won the first set 6-3, with Rebello winning the second set 6-4. The third set was played as a tiebreak, with Rebello coming out on top 7-5. Both Rebello and Moran are from Pawtucket.
Paul Carreiro of Swansea (left) defeated Jeremy Magnan of Pawtucket in the Men’s 3.0/3.5 Singles Division. Carreiro was undefeated in the round robin (3 wins, 0 losses) while Magnan was 2 and 1.
Men’s Doubles team including Matt DiPippo (far left) and Vidith Huot of Cranston took the Mens Doubles over Scott Francoeur from East Providence and Steve Viera of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, 6-1, 6-2.
The Pawtucket Open Tennis Tournament is held annually and is sponsored by the Pawtucket Parks and Recreation Division. The tournament this year was facilitated by Terry LaPierre.
