Join the global movement to change the way people think, act and talk about dementia
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Join the global movement to change the way people think, act and talk about dementia. Attend an information session at the Weaver Library on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 10 – 11 am and learn about “Dementia Friends,” an initiative founded by the Alzheimer’s Association of the United Kingdom and now underway in MA and RI and across the United States.
You will learn five key messages about living with dementia, and the simple things you can do to make a difference in your community. The session is primarily a discussion led by a volunteer Dementia Friends Champion focusing on what dementia is, what it’s like to live with it, and some tips for communicating with people who have dementia. You don’t need to be a dementia expert to become a Dementia Friend nor do you need to know someone with dementia.
