History Space Programming at the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House: The Newport Stamp Act Protest, Visit the Apothecarist
This summer the Newport Historical Society expands the popular History Space initiative with a series of costumed interpretation programs at the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House, with expert historical interpreter Seán O’Brien.
On dedicated dates in August and September, O’Brien will discuss specific themes relating to colonial Newport while sharing details about early life in this historic seaport.
Monday August 19, 2019 – The Newport Stamp Act Protest
Hear about the events that occurred in Newport leading up to the August 1765 Stamp Act Protest while discussing loyalist Martin Howard who lived in the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House in the mid-18th century.
All programs run from 11 am to 3 pm at the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House, 17 Broadway, Newport, RI.
Admission is by donation.
