Concerts Under the Elms’ 23rd Season Kicks Off
Popular RIHS Series to Feature Magnolia, Steve Smith & the Nakeds, Driftwoods, & More!
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (June 19, 2019) – The Rhode Island Historical Society starts summer right with their 23rd season of Concerts Under the Elms, which will kick off June 20, 6:30pm, with the American Band on the lawn of the John Brown House Museum (52 Power St., Providence). This year, each concert will feature not one but two food trucks- one for dinner cuisine, and the other to satiate a sweet tooth.
Newly added to this decades-long tradition — the first floor of John Brown House Museum will be free and open to all attendees during every concert night, providing the option to either recline on the lawn for the performance, or, to wander back in time inside the first mansion ever built in this state.

About the Rhode Island Historical Society
Founded in 1822, the RIHS, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the fourth-oldest historical society in the United States and is Rhode Island’s largest and oldest historical organization. In Providence, the RIHS owns and operates the John Brown House Museum, a designated National Historic Landmark, built in 1788; the Aldrich House, built in 1822 and used for administration and public programs; and the Mary Elizabeth Robinson Research Center, where archival, book and image collections are housed. In Woonsocket, the RIHS manages the Museum of Work and Culture, a community museum examining the industrial history of northern Rhode Island and of the workers and settlers, especially French-Canadians, who made it one of the state’s most distinctive areas.
