Gained in Translation at the Weaver Library
After packing the house a year ago, Victoria Richter and her band return to Weaver Library on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 7 pm in an all-new concert.
The band presents “Gained in Translation II” which continues its exploration among the intersections of language and song.
The new program features familiar jazz and pop songs – musical pleasures shared around the world – performed in six languages by stars like Sinatra, Dionne Warwick, Lady Gaga, Aznavour, Piaf, Jobim, Los Panchos, Brel, Trenet, and many more.
These great songs transport listeners in their native French, Portuguese, Spanish, Yiddish, Italian and Russian languages through the soulful voice of Victoria, interwoven in English by Maurice and backed by a tight-knit ensemble featuring Shep Shapiro on bass; Chris Brooks on lead guitar; Clune on drums; and Maurice Methot on guitar and vocals.
Weaver Library is located at 41 Grove Avenue, East Providence, RI.
