To the Editor:
It has come to my attention that some people, candidates and residents, are awaiting the United Regional Chamber of Commerce’s endorsement of a particular candidate for elected office, or a discussion regarding the candidates’ track records of working with the chamber.
Let me make perfectly clear that United Regional Chamber of Commerce does not, under any circumstances, endorse candidates in any race.
As a membership based organization, the United Regional Chamber of Commerce represents 16 communities.
We are open and willing to work with officials in all of the cities and towns within our region. We notify them of, and invite them to, our upcoming events, and welcome their participation.
Further, we expect that when a new business opens in their community, that local officials will refer them to our chamber, since our mission is to enhance the economic well-being of each member business and the well-being of the overall business community.
We have a diverse membership, educational opportunities, networking events, and a resourceful knowledge base to help businesses of all sizes. There should be a symbiotic relationship between the officials of each community, and our chamber.
Of course, we would like to see more participation from the officials within our region. And, our door is always open to welcome new ideas for collaboration.
The United Regional Chamber of Commerce participates on many boards, committees, and panel discussions regarding local and state business related topics.
We take great pride in being a strong voice for our membership of businesses. And, we support our businesses by referring them to prospective clients.
So, if you’re looking for a candidate endorsement, you won’t get it from the United Regional Chamber of Commerce.
But, if you’re looking for goods or services, we will be happy to refer you to one of our wonderful member businesses!
Thank you.
