The Winners of EforAll South Coast’s Fall River CELEBRATING CULTURES Pitch Contest!
At the Umass Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship on Wednesday, April 3rd, EforAll South Coast held a Pitch Contest showcasing ideas from all aspects of businesses in the South Coast region.
Nine different entrepreneurs came to show off their businesses, ranging from a podcast focused on the diversity of entrepreneurship, to tango dancing.
Six of the business were preselected to give a two-and-a-half minute pitch for cash prizes.
There was an additional presenter chosen that night as a “wild card”. Judges listening to each pitch, scored based on the clarity of the idea and presentation of the entrepreneur.
The presenters were asked to focus on the following questions: what was the opportunity that led to the idea, who is the customer/market, how will it be sustainable as a business or non-profit, and how will the prize money be used.
The judges included Jevonya Allen fromTwisted Networking, Bob Unger and Barbara LeBlanc of Unger Leblanc, and Judite Carey of Gnome Create.
The grand prize of $1,000 was awarded to Ideal Chiropractic Club by Natalie Yvonne Ide of Somerset, MA, which is a house-call chiropractic service specializing in pediatrics, women who are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or who have recently given birth.
Quinn Harris from New Bedford and owner of Quinn Harris Illustrations, which offers a variety of products, expanded the availability his custom illustrations from personal use to business advertising, walked home with the $750 Second Place prize.
The Third place award of $500 went to Philip Ransbottom of New Bedford for A VR Story, which is an effort to connect you to the world through technology.
It’s not too late to be part of EforAll’s next pitch contest, located at the Andrea McCoy Recreation Center in New Bedford on Wednesday April 24. Applications will be accepted until April 11th.
