2ND ANNUAL ASPARAGUS FEST TO BE HELD AT FOUR TOWN FARM MAY 4TH
Farm Fresh RI fundraiser celebrates the start of local growing season with the arrival of asparagus!
Farm Fresh Rhode Island is reprising its newest local food event for a second year on May 4, 2019, in celebration of the beginning of the local growing season. Asparagus Fest will take place at Four Town Farm — located where the four towns of East Providence, Barrington, Seekonk, and Swansea meet.
As the name implies, Asparagus Fest will be a celebration of the deletable springtime treat here in Southern New England, asparagus. Guests will be taken on a special behind-the-scenes farmer-led tour through Four Town Farm’s asparagus fields. On the tour, guests will learn how asparagus is propagated, grown, and maintained on the 150-acre fifth-generation family-run farm — and will be invited to pick a pound of aspargus themselves to bring home!
After the tractor-pulled tour through Four Town Farm’s asparagus fields, guests will return to the gorgeous farm stand for music and refreshments. The Fest will feature local wine & beer, and a wide array of unique asparagus dishes created by an impressive team of chef-instructors from Johnson & Wales University, College of Culinary Arts.
