The Pencil Skirt: A Fashion Design Essential
Fashion designer Candace French will demonstrate the stages of making a classic pencil skirt on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 7 pm at the Weaver Library.
Candace’s presentation includes the history and importance of this classic style. She also discusses how its pattern can be used to develop a personalized skirt as well as how it inspires many to make more of their own clothing.
Candace French created the first collection of spandex punk clothing featured at Fiorucci in 1979. She’s known for her custom-made wedding gowns and costumes for the stage.
Her recent works include active rowing wear for Resolute Racing, the original cape for Cleverhood, and a specialized chef’s apron for Chezpron. Candace currently teaches classes at her workshop and Rhode Island School of Design Young Artist Program.
Weaver Library is located at 41 Grove Avenue, East Providence, RI. This program is free and open to all.
