Mayor Grebien Joins The Rhody Hen Café Grand Opening
PAWTUCKET – Mayor Grebien joined The Rhody Hen Café in its Grand Opening. The restaurant, located on Prospect Street and named after the state bird the Rhode Island Red, serves as yet another small business opening its doors in Pawtucket.
“The Rhody Hen Café is a wonderful new addition to our community,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “Owners Tiffany and Antonio Barrera’s hard work over the past two years has finally come to fruition. I wish them the best of luck and congratulate them in their new business. As with all of the businesses in Pawtucket, the City is willing to partner in whatever way possible to help make the Rhody Hen Café a success!”
The Barrera’s got started on the concept about two years ago. “This was a long time coming. Both of our backgrounds include everything one could do in a restaurant – busing tables, waitressing, Front of House management, and Head Chef. We both could not be more excited to branch out on our own and start this culinary experience together,” said Tiffany. “Antonio and I chose to start our business in the city of Pawtucket because we are surrounded with such a beautiful diversity of different cultures and it is our hometown.”
“We offer homemade breakfast, brunch, lunch, fresh hand cut fries and burgers. We also offer our soon to be famous fish and chips and chowder on Fridays,” continued Tiffany “Antonio and I have been making it our mission to serve farm to table products such as our farm fresh eggs. We also offer a great selection of local products such as our coffee, which comes from Downeast Coffee Roasters out of Pawtucket. For our guests that cannot make it in to sit and eat we do offer take out and in the near future we will offer delivery.”
The restaurant is named after the state bird, the Rhode Island Red Chicken. Also in the logo are the state flower, the Violet, and the honey bee, due to Tiffany being a beekeeper.
Tiffany has been studying culinary arts since attending Attleboro High School. Tiffany graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 2008 with an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts and a Bachelor’s in Food & beverage Management. Antonio has been working in the restaurant industry since he was a little boy in El Salvador. When moving to Boston, MA Antonio worked for the Back Bay Restaurant group and several unique brunch spots.
