“Guardians of Thoreau’s Legacy: Cape Cod National Seashore and Katahdin Woodsand Waters National Monument”

F Thoreau

Thursday, October 18, at 7pm. The Association to Preserve Cape Cod will host this forum with Tim Hudson, superintendent of Maine’s Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, and Brian Carlstrom, superintendent of the Cape Cod National Seashore in Massachusetts.

The forum will be moderated by WCAI’s Mindy Todd.

This unique collaboration by the heads of two New England National Parks will feature a discussion focused on the distinctly different characteristics and surprising similarities of these two regions that?? factored prominently in Thoreau’s travels, inspired some of his most revered writings, and, through establishment of the National Parks, are today the guardians of his legacy.

This event is associated with Henry David Thoreau, Cape Cod to the Maine Woods:??A Journey in Photographs, an exhibition of finely-crafted photographic prints, on loan from The Walden Woods Project, created by the Harvard Museum of Natural History in partnership with photographer Scot Miller ??to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Henry David Thoreau’s??The Maine Woods.

The month-long exhibition, opening reception and associated events are open to the public with free admission.
