Ron Bernier to speak of his experience at Sockanosset???
Like many kids his age, Ron Bernier was told he would end up at Sockanosset or the ???Bad Boys School??? when he misbehaved, but unlike thousands of Rhode Islanders who were told the same thing, he actually ended up there. Years later, he put the experience into an autobiography The Class of 1969.
Bernier will discuss his book on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 7pm at the Weaver Library. Not only does Bernier write about the violence, racial unrest, and loneliness at Sockanosset, he shares the story of how as a teen, he turned his life around, became a social worker, and helped other young men and women find their way out of the Rhode Island Training School.
Bernier, who once lived in Riverside, now calls Warwick, RI home. Books will be for sale and signing.
