Pawtucket Students and Parks & Recreation Go Live

PAWTUCKET ??? Today, the Pawtucket Parks and Recreation Division and the Jaqueline M. Walsh School for the Arts (JMW) announced the launch of a public access television program, ???JMW News Brings Pawtucket Parks & Recreation To You???. The JMW Broadcasting Club is producing the episodes, which will feature interviews focused on events and activities with the Parks & Recreation Division, Leon Mathieu Senior Center and the Pawtucket Public Library. ??
The show will air in Pawtucket/East Providence starting this Thursday, April 19th. The show will continue to air on the following nights:
Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. and Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. on Cox Channel 18 and Verizon Channel 25
Mondays at 8 p.m. on Cox Channel 13 and Verizon Channel 32

The first episode features interviews with the Pawtucket Dog Park, Ten 31 Studios, and Mary Lou Moran, of the Senior Center, as well as addressing environmental concerns such as littering, feeding the geese and smoking in the parks.?? The show closes out with an excerpt from the Jesse Liam Band who will be performing as part of the Summer Concert Series at Slater Park this summer.??
Though the monthly topics of the show are based upon the activities conducted through Parks & Recreation Division, Leon Mathieu Senior Center and the Pawtucket Public Library the final production is conceived through the imagination and creativity of the JMW students.??
???This is an exciting opportunity to provide students with hand on experience and promote the local activities and events available to residents,??? said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. ???Parks and Recreation, the Senior Center and the Library have so much to offer for a wide variety of interests and age levels. This is one more tool to spread the word.???
???This project will provide the opportunity for the students to enlighten their peers and themselves to the many recreational opportunities, as well as promote pride in their city,??? said John Blais, Director of Parks and Recreation. ???This medium will help to educate our community as a whole, by highlighting the programs and facilities made available to them that provide a better quality of life.?? The students of the Broadcasting Club are bringing great enthusiasm to this project.???
