OLD SAKONNET RIVER BRIDGE

Old Sakonnet River Bridge Superstructure Demolition, Tiverton/Portsmouth????B TIV Old Sakonnet River Bridge 4-6-18

After positioning barges in the closed channel, we plan to remove the main arch span of the bridge.

Tomorrow morning, we are scheduled to begin jacking up to the bridge, with a goal of cutting the arch free around the high tide at 1 p.m.

We will then lower the arch down to the barge which should take about 5 hours.

The barge and arch will then be transported to a marina in Fall River where it will be downsized and recycled.

This work is highly dependent on the tidal and weather conditions and cannot be performed in winds higher than 15 mph.

For the remainder of the week, we will continue with deck demolition in six spans and structural steel demo in one span.
