APRIL 3rd AND 4th
On Tuesday, April 3rd and Wednesday, April 4th, many Rhode Island officials will join more than 4,300 city and county leaders across the country in a day of recognition to highlight the impact of AmeriCorps and Senior Corps across the State of Rhode Island.
City Mayors and officials from Rhode Island will participate in National Service Recognition Day by holding recognition events and round table discussions throughout the state.
More than 3,200 AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers serve in Rhode Island to address needs in education, health, and safety. In particular, Rhode Island AmeriCorps members aim to close opportunity gaps for kids, supporting their school attendance and engagement, reading proficiency, STEM and arts education, and college access. Senior Corps volunteers support Meals on Wheels, help older adults stay in their homes, and tutor students among other areas of community need.
National Service Recognition Day activities in Rhode Island are part of a national bipartisan effort to recognize the positive impact of national service, thank those who serve, and to encourage citizens to give back.
