Born in Figueira da Foz (Portugal, 1971), Afonso Cruz is a prolific writer, illustrator, musician and screenwriter. Among other numerous awards, he received the European Union Prize for Literature in 2012, the Portuguese Authors Society Award in 2014 and the Portuguese National Award for Illustration.
