Learn how to follow a LOW CARB diet at the Weaver Library??
Thinking about ways to be healthier in the New Year? Psychologist David Weed, Psy.D. will lead a workshop on following a low-carbohydrate diet at the Weaver Library on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10am. This free 90-minute session is for those interested in trying a low-carbohydrate diet for weight loss without hunger or to either control or prevent Type II diabetes.
Low-carb diets emphasize limiting foods containing carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, and starchy vegetables, as well as most sweets while allowing satisfying amounts of meat, eggs, nuts, cheese, non-starchy vegetables, butter and cream. Dr. Weed, who has successfully followed a low-carb diet for the past eight years, lowering his A1c from 6.3 to 5.1, has led low-carb support groups for the past five years.
Unlike low-fat diets and calorie-restricted diets, low-carb works well for people who are pre-diabetic or diabetic, and many find that they can resolve their symptoms and reduce or eliminate their medications while improving cholesterol and high blood pressure symptoms. Others who have tried low-carb diets, though, have found difficulty in maintaining them. Dr. Weed will explain how to be successful and discuss how to develop effective strategies.??
