LOCAL SCHOOL RECEIVES VISIT FROM ST. NICHOLAS
Fr. Chris Peschel, parish priest at St. John the Evangelist Church, Attleboro, dressed up as St. Nicholas and visited the school on December 6, the Feast of St. Nicholas.
A rich man whose set out to help the needy, St. Nicholas was a bishop who lived in the fourth century in an area now called Turkey.
Some of the traditions and rituals of Christmas, such as leaving out a??shoe??or stocking to be filled, are similar to the traditions of??Saint Nicholas??Day.
The school celebrates the feast day by having the children place one of their shoes in the hallway with the hopes that they will be filled with a little treat.
