Good afternoon.
President Trump showed us that he is willing to do everything he can to sabotage our nation???s health care and disrupt the lives of hard-working, Rhode Island families.
The President has tried three times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and has failed each time because people from across Rhode Island and every other state in America have stood up to protect access to care.
Last night, he announced a new tax on Rhode Island families??? health insurance. His actions could force Rhode Island families to pay more or lose coverage all together. I???ve directed my team to take every measure possible to minimize the impact on Rhode Island families, and they???ve already put plans to work.
But let me be clear: middle class families are still going to feel the effects of the Trump Tax unless action is taken to override the President???s cruel, immoral and unnecessary actions.
The Trump Tax could put Rhode Islanders??? lives at risk by forcing many families to choose between health coverage and the grocery bill. The Trump Tax takes effect immediately. It???s not just Democrats raising alarms about the President???s actions: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the nation???s leading hospital and doctor organizations warn that the Trump Tax will hurt middle class Americans.
President Trump is determined to tear apart the Affordable Care Act. The ACA is working in Rhode Island. His cruel and immoral crusade to destroy our nation???s healthcare system is putting the lives of Rhode Islanders at risk. It puts people with pre-existing conditions at risk. It threatens treatment and recovery services for Rhode Islanders with substance use disorder.
An estimated 17,000 Rhode Islanders will be directly impacted by the Trump Tax, and millions of Americans could lose coverage or face unaffordable copays and out-of-pocket costs because of the Trump Tax. These are families of four who make about $50,000 a year. We need to stand up on behalf of the thousands of Rhode Islanders who will be hurt by President Trump???s immoral actions.??
Senators Reed and Whitehouse, and Congressmen Langevin and Cicilline have stood strong against President Trump???s attempts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act.
After that, call the White House at 202-456-1111 and tell President Trump we can???t afford the Trump Tax on Health Care.
Thank you.
