Massachusetts Students Laugh and Learn Thanks to Eversource
??
The National Theatre for Children (NTC) has partnered with Eversource to educate and inspire Massachusetts students and their families on energy efficiency. This fall, professional actors from NTC will deliver 50 live performances of The Energized Guyz: Powered Up, sparking conversations on energy efficiency in classrooms throughout Eversource???s Massachusetts service area.
Performances will take place through October 27 in Charlestown, Arlington, Cambridge,??Waltham, Roxbury, Walpole, and Plymouth, among others.
???Live theatre is a great way to educate students on the importance of energy and how to use it wisely and more efficiently,??? said NTC president and founder Ward Eames. ???Energized Guyz holds students??? attention for every minute because they get to respond and interact with the show. It really sticks with them.???
The live program features two actors performing a series of interactive comedy sketches about everyday energy use. While the educational content is scripted, the actors incorporate improvised lines by soliciting information from students and integrating student input and volunteers into the show for lots of laughs. With the help of colorful characters like Wrench the repairman, Dr. Frankenstein, and Captain Doorknob, students learn how to save resources and use energy efficiently.
The program also includes online e-books and digital games and activities that align with the important concepts outlined in the live shows. Eversource sponsors the program, which helps make the performances and materials a cost-free supplement to lessons in science, literacy and the arts.
