Annual Open Studios in Pawtucket????

Forty artists and designers in 3 renovated mill buildings in the Armory Arts District of Pawtucket, RI will open their studios and lofts to visitors from 11 am to 5 pm on September 23 and 24, 2017. In its sixth year, XOS (Exchange Street Open Studios) showcases a diversified range of artwork including paintings, sculpture, fine prints, photography, fine crafts, wearable art, jewelry, graphic and textile design and more.
Organizer of the event, Joan Hausrath, points out, ???Although this is our 6th annual event, every year the artwork shown is fresh because we have new artists participating as well as returning artist showing new work. Visitors will encounter fine crafts as well as gallery art, all for sale and tax-free. ???
In addition to viewing art, visitors will have an opportunity to learn about creative art making.?? Artists will be sharing their inspirations, showing work in progress and demonstrating their techniques.
Also of interest to visitors are the mill renovations.?? Riverfront Lofts, a former knitting mill on the Blackstone River, is now a condominium with more than 50 unique, light-filled work/live spaces adjacent to the Blackstone River. Next-door is Blackstone Studios, once a cardboard factory now contains both design and art studios including that of well-known artist/designer, Morris Nathanson. One block away is Mad Dog Artists Studios, Gallery and Caf??.?? These popular studios provide individual and common area workspaces for member artists on a short or long-term rental basis.

XOS is easy to get to, just take exit 29, I-95, and follow the signs. ??There is plenty of parking and the mills are only steps apart. Enjoy music and the menu offerings of Mad Dog Caf?? and food trucks.
