The Importance of Being Earnest is a farcical masterpiece with rapid-fire wit and eccentric characters, The Important of Being Earnest is Wilde???s last and most celebrated play. In late Victorian London, companions-in-cavorting Jack Worthing and Algernon ???Algy??? Moncrieff have fallen in love with two ladies who have their hearts set on marrying a man named Ernest. In pursuit of romance, both men concoct an elaborate deception. When Algy???s aunt, the formidable Lady Bracknell, starts sleuthing about for the truth, an outlandish surprise is revealed. Wilde???s buoyant comedy of manners will keep you anticipating a fresh twist of plot from one moment to the next.

???Four Americans in Cuba??? features work from four Rhode Island Photographers who have traveled to Cuba multiple times starting in 2013. The exhibition takes a look inside, focusing on daily life, and speaks to the human condition and the pace of change. Drawing on the shared experience, this exhibition focuses on the people of Cuba and sparks a dialogue on the necessity of change and the resilience of the Cuban People. The exhibition, presented at Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket, attempts to present a more nuanced view of the current Cuba and includes a soundtrack that mixes contemporary Cuban music from musicians playing in Havana clubs and restaurants with the more iconic sounds of the Buena Vista Social Club. Opening and closing receptions and artist talks will also feature classic and prohibition-era Cuban cocktails at the bar, including the El Presidente, Adalor (the Bellini???s predecessor), La Floridita Daquiri No. 4, and Hotel Nacional.

RHD-RI proudly presents The 3nd Annual Rhode Island Outsider Art Fair: ???The OUT THERE Art Fair??? in conjunction with the 19h Annual Pawtucket Arts Festival.

RHD-RI is an arts based non-profit located in downtown Pawtucket that works with artists and musicians with disabilities in order to promote them and their creations and to raise public awareness of their diverse skills and voices.

In conjunction with the 19th Annual Pawtucket Arts Festival, RHD-RI will be hosting the 3nd Annual Rhode Island Outsider Art Fair: ???The Out There Art Fair,??? showcasing the work of a neurodiverse and largely self taught group of nationally and internationally shown and recognized artists, many of whom have been featured at such prestigious events and locations as the INTUIT Art Fair in Chicago, the St. Louis Outsider Art Fair, the New York Outsider Art Fair and the Museum of Everything.

The Fair will include art by members of local studio programs like Pawtucket???s RHD-RI and Flying Shuttles, Jamestown???s Out of the Box Studios, Cranston???s Artist Exchange, Newport???s Studio 57 & Downtown Designs, and Top Drawer of Warren, as well as individual artists, galleries and programs from all over New England and beyond!

Community Hero ‘Art Walk’

As part of this year’s Pawtucket Arts Festival, the City of Pawtucket is launching the first of a series of urban walking paths – The “Baldwin Loop.” Activities will take place at Elizabeth Baldwin Elementary School, Ama???s Market, Woodlawn Community Center, and the surrounding neighborhood. Come join the fun, enter into a community super hero costume contest, and strut your stuff around the “Baldwin Loop,” a 2-mile walking path.

Family-friendly activities and attractions include:

  • Ribbon cutting for the path??
  • Free Arts & Crafts activities
  • Unveiling of The Empowerment Factory community art murals installed at Ama???s Market.
  • Batman will be there with his Bat Mobile, the Pawtucket Police, Paws from the Paw Sox and other local heroes.
  • Super Hero selfie photo booth. Participants are encouraged to dress their pets in capes and masks, too. A prize basket valued at over $100 to the winner of our super hero photo contest.
  • Goodie bags will be given to the first 50 people to walk the path.
