The Exploration Center and Aquarium is full of Captivating Crustaceans this September??

NEWPORT, R.I. ??? September 1, 2017 ??? September is all about Captivating Crustaceans at??the Save The Bay Exploration Center and Aquarium, giving visitors a chance to learn all about these special ocean critters. Guests of all ages can find out what happens to ???Leroy the Lobster and Crabby Crab??? during the interactive story hour, hunt for crustacean-themed clues in a scavenger hunt and create their very own crab in arts and crafts. The Exploration Center and Aquarium is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Labor Day and Friday through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. after Labor Day.

Crustaceans, which have 50,000 known species, are members of a group called arthropods, which includes lobsters, crabs??and shrimp. With segmented bodies, exoskeletons, and open circulatory systems, arthropods are unique creatures that are more closely related to insects than they are to other species of crustaceans.??Guests can find a variety of these armored arthropods??at the Exploration Center and Aquarium.??

Also in September, Feeding Frenzy??on Thursday, September 21, from 5-6 p.m. is a chance for visitors to??help aquarium staff feed the fish, turtles, sharks and other animals. Tickets are limited and can be purchased at??www.savebay.org/FeedingFrenzy. ??

The Exploration Center and Aquarium is located in the Easton???s Beach Rotunda at 175 Memorial Blvd. in Newport, R.I. General admission is $8; and $7 for military and senior citizens. Save The Bay Family Members enjoy FREE admission for 2 adults and up to 4 children.
