BEAVERTAIL LIGHT FUNDRAISER

JAMESTOWN, RI

A BEAVERTAIL model1

The Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association is raising funding and awareness for our 2017 Matching Gift Capital Campaign.

Throughout 2017, the association has the opportunity to have up to $500,000 in donations matched by private donor and Jamestown local Jim Buttrick, totaling up to $1,000,000 to be placed into an endowment for annual building maintenance and upkeep in perpetuity.??

This one-time fundraising effort will set up an endowment to ensure the Beavertail Lighthouse facility has the funding available for the maintenance and upkeep it requires.

If the $1,000,000 is raised in its entirety, up to $40,000 could be made available annually for property upkeep.

From 2008 until today, the association has raised over $550,000 through foundation grants, which has been put towards major lighthouse and museum restoration and upkeep projects.

The association has overseen the restoration of the granite light tower, the keeper???s and assistant keeper???s house buildings, and the fog signal building, which now houses an aquarium.

While a majority of the major work has been accomplished, the buildings??? age and relentless weather on the exposed, southernmost tip of Jamestown means a continuous need for maintenance and upkeep.??

We believe in this work, protecting and maintaining Beavertail Lighthouse, as an icon of Jamestown, and an icon of Rhode Island.

As the third oldest lighthouse in the country, the all-volunteer museum association works diligently in maintaining the property, and desperately needs the financial cushion to continue our work.

This fundraising campaign will alter the future upkeep of Beavertail Lighthouse for decades to come, and we hope you???ll join us in maintaining this hidden gem.
