Sarah, a junior who received a scholarship that kept her at BSU, has overcome every obstacle she has encountered. Read about her success story and how you can help more students like Sarah by making a gift before June 30.
“When I think of how I could possibly thank those who have supported me, I become overwhelmed with emotion. To find the words needed to show my gratitude seems almost impossible.??
At 19, I found myself homeless, living alone in my car. Hope was a word I was unfamiliar with at the time, but looking back I realize now that hope was all I had.??
At the age of 26, I became a single parent. I knew that it was up to me to make our life great, to show him how to be brave when he is scared, how to have the courage to chase his dreams. I knew the only way I could show him these things was to be the example, to live up to those standards no matter how difficult or how afraid I might be.
When I decided to come to BSU, I wasn???t quite sure what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to be successful and achieve greatness. So, I enrolled and found myself with a purpose. I have worked so hard to get to where I am today, and the scholarship that I’ve been awarded is proof to myself, and to my son, that hard work does matter. This gift will help me finish what I???ve started.??
All I can say is thank you. Thank you for supporting me when I needed it the most.
I hope you will consider making a donation before June 30 so you can help transform the life of another BSU student.” -??Sarah ’18
