The 21st Season of RIHS???s Concerts Under the Elms Starts June 29
American Band Will Kick Off Popular R.I. Tradition; New Food Trucks Announced
(PROVIDENCE, R.I.) ??? The 21st season of the Rhode Island Historical Society???s beloved Concerts Under the Elms series starts on June 29, 6:30pm, with the American Band, and will continue on Thursday evenings through August 3.
???Here in Rhode Island, summer is a time for food, fun, and savoring the outdoors. Concerts Under the Elms combines all three,??? said Mary Lou Upham, recently retired RIHS Membership Officer and Concerts Under the Elms organizer. ???I???ve been involved with the concerts for 10 years, and one of the joys for me has been the simple pleasure of seeing folks have a good time. What???s not to enjoy? Music, friends, and a view of historic Benefit Street and downtown Providence. We???re thrilled that the American Band will get us off to a great start once again.???
Here???s the full lineup for Concerts Under the Elms 2017, along with food truck pairings:
June 29: The American Band + FUGO
July 6: Steve Smith & the Nakeds + Friskie Fries
July 13: The Nickel Jukebox Band + Bit???Chin BBQ
July 20: The Becky Chace Band + FUGO
July 27: The Cajun Hobos + Baby???s Bonetown BBQ
August 3: Greg Abate + Bit???Chin BBQ
In addition, Macaron Millie from Ellie???s Bakery will sell desserts, while Granny Squibb iced teas will be available for a donation.
Concerts begin at 6:30pm on the John Brown House Museum lawn, 52 Power St., Providence, and end at 8pm. Tickets, which can be purchased on site prior to the concerts, are $10, and admission is free for RIHS members and children under 12. In case of inclement weather, concertgoers should check RIHS.org or call (401) 331-8575 x135 after 1:30pm on the day of the concert. Rain date is August 10.
Parking: street parking with limited parking for visitors with disabilities on site.
Concertgoers may bring their own coolers, chairs, and blankets. No pets are allowed.
