PAWTUCKET ??? Members of the United States Army conducted military training throughout Rhode Island earlier this week to enhance their soldier skills by operating in various environments and settings.

Pawtucket was one of the chosen locations due to its mill spaces.

???Thank you to our armed forces for protecting our city, state, and country day-in and day-out,??? said Antonio J. Pires, Pawtucket???s Director of Public Safety.

???Their ongoing training will ensure that they are well prepared for any situation. Thank you to our community for their understanding and for supporting our troops.???

This secured military training was coordinated with federal, state, and city officials as well as private property owners, and all safety precautions were implemented in order to prevent unnecessary risk to both the participants and/or area residents and their property.

Residents may have heard sounds associated with the training, including aircraft and weapon simulations. Citizens in close proximity to the areas where the training took place were to have been notified in person by military representatives prior to the training.

The local terrain and training facilities in Rhode Island provide the U.S. Army with unique locations and a variety of environments to train.

Each location selected enables soldiers to test their equipment to maintain maximum readiness and proficiency, and to exercise standard safety procedures. This training is essential to ensure they are fully trained and prepared to support our nation and its mission.

The military extends their sincere appreciation for the cooperation and understanding of the citizens and local businesses in the vicinity of this training and apologizes for any possible disturbance. The U.S. Army is sensitive to the impact of the training to the local citizens and extends its gratitude to the cities and towns involved.
