NEXT CITIZEN FORESTER TRAINING – WEDNESDAY, MAY 17TH – REGISTER NOW!
The Citizen Forester program??offers??technical training focused specifically on the care of young, urban trees. It will authorize those who complete the program to help steward our young city trees and become leaders in the Providence tree community.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BECOME A CITIZEN FORESTER?
Anyone who has: Completed the Rhode Island Tree Steward Program (or a comparable program in another municipality or state)
Worked in the field of Landscaping/Arboriculture/Forestry
Completed a Master Gardeners Certification Program
Participated as a PNPP Neighborhood Tree Leader
Demonstrated a level of knowledge & experience equivalent to the above (to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
WHAT DOES CITIZEN FORESTER TRAINING INVOLVE?
Successfully completing a two-hour hands-on field training session.
Trainings will take place in selected neighborhoods throughout the city, and will cover the issues and challenges facing urban trees, tree pit care, mulching & watering, and basic pruning techniques for training young trees.
WHAT ARE CITIZEN FORESTERS AUTHORIZED TO DO?
Once certified, Citizen Foresters will receive an ID Badge/Membership Card. They are then authorized to ??engage in feet-on-the-ground pruning and maintenance of young city street & park trees, participate in urban forestry outings and projects, and act as a community liaison, resource, and advocate for a healthy urban forest!
