PAWTUCKET ??? This week, Mayor Donald R. Grebien toured local textile manufacturer Stretch Products with John C. Gregory, Northern RI Chamber of Commerce President, Dennis McCarthy, of the RI Small Business Development Center, and Herb Weis, the City???s Economic and Cultural Affairs Officer.
Stretch Products, founded by Frank Wershing, re-located from West Warwick to a mill on Pine Street in 1992. The family owned business produces millions of yards of elastic every year for the apparel, aerospace, health, marine, military, medical, and recreation industries.
Their stretch cords, elastics, and webbing are used in many products including bungee cords, back braces, pet leashes, boat ties, surgical masks, belts, and harnesses.
Company President David Sheibley and Able Pereira, Vice President and Plant Manager, directed the tour through the factory, which has the equivalent of two football fields of machinery. Their operation employs 45 individuals.

Instead, they upgraded their equipment little by little and hired local, skilled employees who take pride in their work. We are grateful that they continue to be part of the evolution here in Pawtucket.???
