STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT BIRDS OF PREY
Students at St. John the Evangelist School learned about the North American Birds of Prey from a presentation given by Jim Parks of Wingmasters.
Since 1994 WINGMASTERS has presented over 5000 programs at schools, libraries and museums throughout New England.
Among the birds shown were the red-tailed hawk, the eastern screech owl and the peregrine falcon.
The students learned that although the peregrine falcon was much smaller than the barred owl, it weighed almost twice as much due to the fact that the owl had a small skeleton and was covered in over 10,000 feathers.
Wingmasters was brought to St. John’s School from the generosity of the Richard DeCoste Memorial Foundation.
